The original version of this was developed by the team who won the first Last.Fm hackday. The idea was that you could have a single system connected to speakers, and compete against your work mates for control of said speakers.
The competition would be based on who had the better knowledge of music the competing pair had in common. This would cause the stream to move from one user, to another.
Unfortunately, after winning the hackday, the developers did not seem to do anymore work on it, and frustratingly, the implementation that they did was based on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) which is not natively available on Mac OSX or distributions of GNU/Linux.
As such, I decided to take things into my own hands. The idea was to re-create the project in such a way that I could learn new things, and allow it to be developed to be usable by just about anyone.
This is still a very much work in progress project, but will be completed in due time.
